It’s the time of year when we clear out the old to make way for the new.
Our extensive hire fleet is being refreshed with next season’s bicycles – which is good news for bargain hunters as we slash hundreds of pounds off the RRPs on mountain, leisure and road bikes.
There are great savings to be had on our high-spec hardtail 29ers.
The High Latitude from UK brand Genesis is the perfect bike for big day rides and hitting up natural trails. Smooth-rolling 29-inch wheels make it ideal for serious mile-munching.
And we’ve slashed ANOTHER £55 off the previous sale price – meaning you can ride away on a Genesis High Latitude for just £695, less than half the £1499.99 RRP! Save £805.
The bikes are crafted from forgiving Reynolds 530 steel and equipped with 2×10 drivetrain and Rockshox forks. The steel tubes do a great job of taming rough ground.
Mountain Bike Rider magazine contributor Benji Haworth also rates them for bike-packing outings. He told us: “The High Latitude is a mighty fine ride. It coped with everything I asked of it. Long gradual ascents, short sharp climbs, rocky descents, twisty woodland singletrack. Roomy and comfy for all day riding. Capable geometry for the fun stuff. A nice taut feeling frame finished off with well chosen fault-free finishing kit. And the colour is lovely too.”
Staying with off-road shenanigans, it’s almost time to bid farewell to our trusty Genesis Core 10 mountain bikes, which scored a four-out-of-five star rating in What Mountain Bike magazine’s review. These have been the mainstay of our mountain bike hire fleet for the last 12 months, meaning they’ve seen only a year of action.
As with all our hire bikes, they’ve been serviced and cleaned after every single ride.
In addition, we’ll be selling these bikes with:
*Brand new, unused wheels.
PLUS we’ll be giving the front suspension fork a full strip-down and service.
In other words, you’ll be getting a nearly-new bike with an RRP of £549.99 – for the bargain price of just £395! Save £155.
We’re taking pre-orders for our ex-hire Genesis Core 10 mountain bikes now – secure yours with a £50 deposit. They will be available for collection from the first week in October.
In leisure cycles we have some Merida Crossway 100 bikes up for grabs.
These are equally at home on morning cycle commutes as they are on gravel tracks and canal towpaths. With lightweight, aluminium frames they’re a great choice for family cycling, and they can be kitted out with mudguards for all-weather riding.
We have the bikes in both crossbar and step-through models. They’re on at £395, down from £549.
Again, we are taking pre-orders and deposits for collection in a couple of weeks.
Finally, for roadies – and returning to Genesis – we haven some ex-hire Equilibrium 20 road bikes for sale.
The Genesis Equilibrium 20 blends old-school looks with modern Shimano spec. It’s billed as the perfect ‘one’ bike for any tarmac occasion – commutes, all-day rides with pals, or even tackling the cobbles and climbs of the spring classics like Roubaix or Flanders. The forgiving steel frame sucks up the pothole lumps and bumps on UK roads. Sling on some mudguards and it becomes a true all-seasons bike.
Cycling Weekly mag gave the bike an impressive 8/10 in this review, saying: ‘As a bike for all seasons, there are few to match the Genesis. Indeed, if you’re after a ‘bike for life’, then the Equilibrium 20 should be on your shortlist.’ RRP is £1299. Ex-hire sale price is £895. Save £404.
