Easy routes from the shop

If you are not an experienced cyclist, but just want to have a fun ride out in lovely countryside, with maybe a stop for ice-cream or tea and cake, here are a couple of options …

Bronllys Castle Loop

This is an easy loop on quiet lanes, with two short steep climbs – we are in wales after all! You start by following Sustrans Route 42, and return on Route 8. Leave Hay on quiet country lanes along a gently rolling route into Talgarth, (8 miles ) where there are options for lunch, coffee and ice-cream. Head for Bronllys, (remain of a castle to be seen on your right) and start your climb. A steep narrow lane takes you up and over to a fast descent to Llyswen, where you cross the wonderful Wye river. A scenic undulating stretch along the Wye valley takes you to Glasbury, where you re-cross the Wye, before your last climb back up to the lane where you started your ride.
