The first Pyga demo frames have arrived in the shop and we’re in the process of dressing them up in top-notch Shimano XT, SRAM XX1 and Hope clobber – the best deserves the best.
Pyga are nailing their colours to the flagpole and have plumped for a range of just two bikes for the time being – the 650b-wheeled One-Twenty 650, and a big-wheeler christened the One-Ten 29. A carbon 650b hardtail is just around the corner – catch one if you can!
The man behind Pyga – legendary designer Pat Morewood – knows better than anyone else out there how to put together a great product, and we know it’s one we can stand behind.
We’re one of a handful of UK Pyga dealers and – as far as we know – the only stockist in Wales. Medium and large framesets in both models are available right now for £1749 and we’ll be doing custom builds starting at around £3000.
If you want to try before you buy, the Pyga demo steeds will be ready to hit the trails in a matter of days, but in the meantime here are four Pyga reviews we just can’t get enough of:
1. Mountain Biking UK’s Guy Kesteven takes the 29er to Stainburn, North Yorkshire.
Says Guy: ‘It really came alive when we gave it some rocks and berms to chew on…the whole bike is outstandingly planted and stiff feeling.’
Keep an eye on MBUK for a review of the One-Twenty 650 due in a forthcoming issue soon.
2. Steve ‘The Butcher’ Walker – a big contributor to gravity MTB magazine Dirt – came over all misty-eyed after slinging his leg over a Pyga 29er. This is what he had to say: ‘The fastest trail centre bike I’ve ridden…everything I asked the Pyga to do, it did.’
Read his review here, and keep an eye on Bike Magic for the low-down on the 650b imminently.
3. Pinkbike lets the pictures do the talking as the Pyga One-Ten 29er is put through its paces on the dusty trails of South Africa. Don’t worry – these bikes run just as well on Welsh mud!
4. This massive showdown between ten 29” full-sussers involved no less than five test riders and saw the Pyga take on the big boys: Specialized, Trek, Giant, Cannondale, they were all there. Guess who came out on top? This says it all: ‘Really the Pyga is what we should all be riding. It’s in another league.’
