Lewis-Day-Mondraker-Enduro-1 - reduced

Mountain bike enduro racing comes to Clyro in just over a month’s time – read on to find out out how you can get 20% off the entry fee!

Local event organiser Red Kite bring their Mondraker Enduro Series to a thrilling finale with a two-day race based at Baskerville Hall Hotel – a stone’s throw from our base in Hay-on-Wye – on the weekend of Saturday and Sunday October 24-25th.

The last time Clyro was raced, in June 2001  as part of the legendary Dragon Downhill series, saw a fledgling Gee Atherton and sister Rachel take the top steps in the respective youth categories.

We’ve been out lurking in the woods above the hotel with Red Kite head honcho Neil Delafield (recently awarded a spot in Singletrack Mag’s ‘Singletrack Hero’ hall of fame!) on a route recce.

As with all the Mondraker Enduro events, you can expect stages to be pretty – ahem – testing, but not as steep as previous rounds at Trallwm and Crychan.

Riders will have the option of racing over one or two days, with two-day competitors riding a mammoth 15 stages!

The staircase below will form the finale for stages 1, 6 and 11. It is steep and long with a nice dog-leg corner and pops out right into the main arena!

And the hotel itself will be the event HQ and most likely the venue for the end of series party.

Of course, we – as co-sponsors of the series – will be on site with food and refreshments, demo and hire bikes and an emergency spares and repair stand.

While you’re at it, check out Red Kite’s other upcoming events – the 60km Little Devil – The Return at Nant-yr-Arian next weekend, and the Dark Devil, a 45km night event based at Crychan Forest near Llanwrtyd Wells.
