The highest road pass in Wales, this challenging climb starts, (or finishes) right past our gates on Forest Road. The climb is 8.5 kms long from the junction with the Brecon Road, and climbs 460m. The average gradient of about 5% belies the difficulty, as some sections are 15% or more. The other side down towards Abergavenny is somewhat less steep, although the road is not in good condition, and has been closed to cars periodically due to flood damage in 2021. It is passable by bike with a little care.

Looking back towards Hay from near the top of the pass.
