Here’s proof – if any were needed – that kids’ bikes don’t need to be burdened with heavy suspension forks to tackle technical, off-road terrain.
Plucky rider Gracie Fox pedalled her way to victory in the under 9s Regional Mountain Bike Championship at the weekend at Round 4 of the Southern XC MTB series.
Piloting a Frog fully-rigid kid’s bike, she positioned herself at the front from the off and took on steep, technical drops, steep climbs and testing switchbacks to take top step on the podium – with 16 seconds to spare.
Of course, bouncy forks have their place but in our experience children often weigh too little for suspension to have any effect – rigid bikes are lighter, cheaper and easier to maintain.
We stock the full range of Frog Bikes and – with the right tyres – they’re equally at home on and off-road.
