We offer repairs, servicing and bike builds at our well-equipped workshop in Hay on Wye. Our mechanics have extensive knowledge and experience across a broad spectrum of cycling disciplines combined with many years experience fixing bikes – so you can be confident your bike is in safe hands.
We do our best to carry out emergency repairs on the same day, provided they are minor. For all non-emergency servicing and repairs please book your bike in – either in person by dropping in to the Drover Cycles shop, by phone or email, where we’ll advise you of the current turnaround time. Bank Holidays and weekends in Summer are particularly busy times.
If you’re booking your bike in for a specific service or job, we’ll advise you of the cost for labour and any parts. If during the course of the work, we come across anything not covered by the service booked we will call you to advise you. No extra work will be carried out or parts fitted unless we have your consent.
On collection of the bike you will receive an invoice detailing the work that has been carried out, together with any advisory notices explaining any further work that our mechanic recommends for safety, comfort or efficiency.
Your bike will be ready to collect at a date and/or time advised by our mechanic.
We do have limited storage space, so appreciate prompt collection of bikes from the workshop and reserve the right to apply a storage of £1 per day if you fail to pick your bike up on the agreed date.
Does your bike need a service?
We recommend servicing your bike at least once a year – preferably twice if you ride it a lot. Except for the frame, pretty much everything on a bike is mechanical, which means it will wear out eventually. The best way to get the longest life out of all the parts is to keep them clean and serviced, replacing things sooner rather then later (changing a worn chain, for example, before it wears out all the sprockets as well). The more efficient and comfortable your bike is, the more you’ll want to ride it. Regular servicing also means you can be confident your bike is safe to ride.
